When Slowing Down Feels Like Falling Behind (but it really isn’t)⚠️🫷🏻

The Power of the Pause

WHAT IF IT’S NOT ABOUT PUSHING THROUGH?

The Power of the Pause

Hey friend,

You know that feeling when you’re running full speed ahead, checking all the boxes, hitting all the marks… and still feeling like you’re somehow falling behind?

I had a moment like that last week. There I was, crushing my to-do list, when I realized I couldn’t remember what I had for breakfast. Or if I had breakfast at all.

Sound familiar?

The Hidden Cost of Constant Motion

Here’s what I’ve been thinking: What if our obsession with forward momentum is actually holding us back?

Think about it:

  • Ever finished a productive day feeling completely empty?
  • Found yourself “resting” while scrolling through emails?
  • Felt guilty for taking a break when your head is spinning?

(I see you nodding…)

The Art of Letting Go (And Finding Something Better)

You know those moments when life feels like it’s not going according to plan? When everything you thought “should” happen just isn’t working out? UGH, I hate it when that happens.

I was reminded of something beautiful just the other day:

“At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.”

Easier said than done, and here’s the magic – when we finally release our grip on “should,” something happens.

Space opens up for gifts we never could have planned:

  • The business pivot that led to more freedom AND profit #winning #seizetheday
  • The relationship challenge that ended up being something more authentic and real
  • The schedule disaster that became chaos and ended up showing us a better way to work
  • The “failed” plan that guided us to an even bigger dream

TRUTH TALK: Sometimes what’s actually happening is better than anything we could have planned.

Our “shoulds” can keep us small, but letting go?

That’s where we find our wings.

Think of it like watching a sunset (you know, actually stopping to watch it). We can’t control exactly how it unfolds, but when we’re present for it? It’s magical.

Your Permission Slip for Presence

Consider this your official invitation to:

  • Let a moment be just a moment
  • Experience an emotion without trying to fix it
  • Let go of perfect plans to embrace perfect timing
  • Choose presence over productivity

I can see you hyperventilating over there…it’s ok, I promise. Just stop, and take a breath.

The Magic of the Pause

When we allow ourselves to pause, something incredible happens:

  • Clarity replaces confusion
  • Inspiration flows naturally (trust me on this; I didn’t believe it until it happened to me)
  • Solutions appear unexpectedly
  • Joy finds its way back in (you may even find your giggle)

Your “Pause Practice” This Week

Try this simple experiment:

  1. Choose ONE daily activity (making coffee, walking to your car, eating lunch)
  2. Make it your designated “pause point”
  3. For those few minutes, just be there
  4. Notice what shifts

Remember: You’re not falling behind by taking a moment to catch your breath. You’re gathering strength for the path ahead.

The Question That Changes Everything

Before pushing through your next task, ask yourself:

“What if this moment isn’t an interruption to my progress, but essential to it?”

Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is simply pause and breathe.

XOXO
