Six words that will change how you start every single day

Hey friend, hi!

Can I ask you something personal?

When you open your closet in the morning, what’s the first thing that runs through your head?

For a lot of us it sounds like this:

I have nothing to wear.

Nothing fits right.

Whatever.

Same thing as yesterday.

UGH!

And then we grab whatever’s easiest and move on with our day.

But here’s what nobody’s talking about:

That moment, those first thirty seconds in front of your closet, is actually the first decision you make about yourself every single day.

And most of us are making it on autopilot.

REAL TALK: This isn’t a fashion problem. It’s an identity problem.

I was listening to a podcast with Mel Robbins this week, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Like, I’ve already sent it to three friends because they need this too.

Her guest, celebrity stylist Erin Walsh, said something that really hit me:

“When you dress based on what will look acceptable, you’ve already decided you’re not good enough for the world

I had to sit with that one. OUCH?!

Because she’s right. And it goes so much deeper than clothes.

Think about your closet right now.

There are probably things hanging in there for the person you used to be. OR things you’re saving for the person you think you’re supposed to become.

The blazer from three jobs ago. The dress or suit you’re keeping for when you lose the weight. The shoes you wore when you were that version of yourself. The activewear uniform you’ve been living in, because honestly, what’s the point?

You know exactly what I’m talking about.

And here’s what I want you to notice, because this is where it gets real:

That closet? It looks a lot like how some of us have been living.

Holding onto old versions of ourselves we’ve already outgrown. Waiting to show up fully until conditions are just right.

Dressing… and living… for what looks acceptable instead of what feels true.

We did the same thing with our voices last week, remember last week’s newsletter? We softened, hedged, and disappeared just enough to stay safe.

Turns out we’ve been doing it with our bodies too. Every single morning.

Here’s the question that changed everything for me:

Not what should I wear.

Not what fits.

Not what will they think.

Just six words:

How do I want to feel?

That’s it. That’s the whole shift.

When you ask what you should wear, you’re dressing for the world’s approval.

When you ask how you want to feel, you’re finally dressing for you.

And here’s what’s crazy, the moment you ask that question, everything in your closet looks different. You stop seeing what doesn’t fit and start seeing what’s possible.

Maybe today you want to feel powerful. Grounded. Like someone who has their life together.

OR maybe today you want to feel soft. Held. Like someone who’s allowed to still be figuring it out.

Both are valid. Both deserve to be honored.

But here’s the deeper truth nobody’s saying:

Most of us never ask that question. Not about our clothes. Not about our day. Not about our lives.

XOXO

P.S. I’m clearing out my own closet this week and I’d love to know: what’s the one thing hanging in there that belongs to a version of you you’ve already outgrown?

Ghosted? Here’s What’s Actually Happening (And Why It’s Rarely About You) Hey friend, hi Have you ever been ghosted? Yeah, me too. Want to know why you keep replaying that last conversation, looking for the thing you said wrong? Because blaming yourself is easier than facing the truth: sometimes people just disappear, and it has nothing to do with you. It happens with clients. It happens with friends. It happens with your own goals when you quietly stop showing up for them too. This isn’t…

You’ve met this person. You just didn’t know what they were doing.👀

The Skill Everyone Mistakes for Personality It’s not confidence. It’s not charisma. Hey, hi there, I’m going to jump right in, this is one of those things everyone thinks, but no one talks about….let’s dive in. Have you ever noticed ‘THAT’ person? Not the CEO. Not the most senior person in the room. The one who hasn’t said a word yet, and somehow everyone’s drawn to them. You’ve seen it, I know I have, dozens of times. A junior colleague in a meeting full of executives. Someone at a dinner…

Figured out? Ha. I’m brand new over here. Hey friend, Hi! Let me tell you something nobody says out loud. People love to hand you this idea that by your late 50s you’ve arrived. Like you’ve got this beautiful, tidy little bow on your life and you’re just… coasting on wisdom. Yeah. No. Not even close! Here’s what’s actually true for me right now: Four years ago I blew up my career and started over. I added life coaching. I reinstated my real estate license, that I started back in 2002. I am…
