Livin’ the Dream (or are you?)

90% of Your Choices Aren’t Actually Yours

You Were Programmed

Hey, hi

Question for you…Whose life are you actually living?

Not whose life do I think I’m living.

Not whose life I’m supposed to be living.

But whose life are you actually living?

The answer scared me.

Because when I really looked at my days, my choices, my goals – so much of it wasn’t mine.

I was living a beautifully curated life that felt… empty.

The Programming Runs Deep

Here’s what I’ve noticed: We stopped asking ourselves what we actually want and started asking what we should want.

The conditioning runs deep:

“Be grateful for what you have.”

“Don’t rock the boat.”

“You should be happy with a stable job.”

“Don’t get too big for your britches.”

“Who do you think you are?”

So we learned to be good. To accept. To not ask for too much.

And now we’re here, successful by every measure that matters to everyone else, but feeling like something’s missing. Empty!

Whose Dreams Are You Chasing?

Your career path? Probably what your family thought was “practical.”

Your definition of success? What society celebrates.

Your goals? What looks impressive to others.

Even your daily choices, how much of that is actually YOU versus what you’ve absorbed from everyone around you?

The Permission You Need

You have permission to want what you want. Even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

You have permission to:

  • Want a smaller business if that means more freedom
  • Choose the path that feels right over the one that looks impressive
  • Change your mind about what success means to you
  • Disappoint people who love the version of you that isn’t really you
  • Live by your own rules instead of everyone else’s expectations

The Questions That Change Everything

  • If nobody was watching, how would I spend my days?
  • What am I doing because I “should” vs. because I want to?
  • When do I feel most like myself?

Your Best Life

Here’s what I’ve learned: Your best life isn’t some Instagram-worthy highlight reel. It’s the one where you feel like yourself most of the time.

Where your choices align with your values, not other people’s expectations. Where you wake up energized instead of just getting through the day.

It might be messier than what you thought you wanted. It might make less sense to other people.

But it will be yours.

The Beautiful Truth

You don’t have to live anyone else’s version of a good life. You get to decide what fulfillment looks like for you.

Your best life isn’t out there waiting for you to achieve it. It’s right here, waiting for you to choose it.

So, whose life are you actually living?

And more importantly, whose life do you want to be living?

Your Life

Your Rules

Your Choice

XOXO,

Tonya

P.S. The scariest part about asking “whose life am I living?” is realizing you might need to make some changes.

The most freeing part?

Realizing you can.
